Global® AP® Adjustable Neck Shoulder Replacement System

Helping to Restore the Natural Motion of the Shoulder

Your shoulder joint is as unique as you are. The variation from person to person is due to differences in size, shape and angle of the bones, as well as other natural variations from person to person. This unique joint is vital to activities you engage in every day of your life, such as driving, tossing a ball around in the backyard, or hugging a loved one.

However, the shoulder joint is very complex. It aids in the forward and backward motion of your arm as well as the circular rotation and outward movement of your arm.

The good news is that surgeons treating people with severe shoulder problems have an implant option to deal with your unique joint and let you get back to the activities you enjoy. The new Global® AP® Adjustable Neck Shoulder Replacement System is the latest advancement in a line of implants from DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc., that dates back 18 years, with an extensive clinical track record.

Shoulder Implant Terminology:

Humeral Head: The top portion of the shoulder implant that attaches to your upper arm bone (humerus).

Humeral Stem: The part of the shoulder implant that is inserted into your upper arm bone (humerus).

Glenoid Component: The glenoid is the cup-shaped part of the shoulder joint. The glenoid component of the shoulder implant enables the top part of your shoulder to easily rotate.

The Global AP shoulder implant can be adjusted to conform to your body’s natural joint angles. Your surgeon can adjust the shoulder implant to achieve the best possible alignment, which can help restore the natural motion of the shoulder.

The Global AP is made of metals and a high-tech plastic material; these durable materials are specially designed to be long lasting. These new implant materials have demonstrated an 85% wear-reduction compared with alternative materials.1

It is important to note that only an orthopaedic surgeon trained in total shoulder replacement can provide advice about whether total shoulder replacement surgery and the Global AP System are right for you. Individual results with any medical treatment may vary.
