Orthopaedic surgeons (orthopaedic specialists) are dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of your body's bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons (musculoskeletal disorders.) Highly trained specialists, they have completed years of advanced medical education, along with required continuing education to keep skills and knowledge updated. Board certified orthopaedic surgeons have passed additional examinations administered by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons or the American Osteopathic Surgery Board.
Your orthopaedic surgeon will determine or confirm the diagnosis of your specific problem, and discuss what options are available. Be sure to let the surgeon know about any of your concerns, and don't hesitate to ask additional questions. It's your shoulder!
